Furniture warehouse sale in the Dallas Design District

You may recall the Design District showroom Pettigrew Associates held a big warehouse sale in January. Well, it was such a hit they’re back with a second one.

Pettigrew’s “spring cleaning” sale is open to the public today through Sunday, May 8 and prices are up to 90 percent off retail. Stocked goods include vintage consoles, tables, chandeliers, chairs, art, pottery and many one-of-a kind pieces.

The fine print: All merch is sold “as-is, where-is” and there are no returns, but, hey, they’re accepting credit cards, so ….

Huge liquidation sale at soon-to-close Borders West Village

borders1.jpg

I stocked up on design books and magazines this weekend at Borders in West Village, which is set to close in about three weeks. Everything in the store — books, movies, music, gifts — is marked down 30% to 50% and shelves are already starting to look empty. (Speaking of, even the shelves and fixtures are for sale.)

As you have probably read, Borders has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy and is closing seven stores in North Texas, including the flagship at Preston and Royal.

Just don’t bother asking them to look up a title for you, I heard one employee tell a customer he couldn’t because they had already sold the computers.

Looking for a good deal? The new owners of 65-year-old furniture and lighting showroom Pettigrew Associates are cleaning house. An email from co-owner David Wildman says they are selling everything warehoused at 1532 Edison St. in the Design District, now through next Friday, Jan. 28.

The sale is open to the public and prices are up to 90 percent off retail. Stocked goods include vintage consoles, tables, chandeliers, chairs, art, pottery and many one-of-a kind pieces. The best part? Wildman hints there are two more buildings filled with goodies that may be opened to shoppers later.

The fine print: All merch is sold “as-is, where-is” and there are no returns, but, hey, they’re accepting credit cards, so ….

Milsteins near $200M Milford Plaza hotel sale

The Milstein family is nearing a deal to sell the 1,300-room Milford Plaza hotel for around 0 million to a partnership led by Rockpoint Group, according to the Wall Street Journal. The hotel, which sits between a number of Broadway theaters at 700 Eighth Avenue between 44th and 45th streets, has been closed since December for a major renovation project that was suspended indefinitely in March. The owner, an affiliate of Milstein-controlled Ogden Cap Properties, hired Atlanta-based brokerage Hodges Ward Elliot soon afterward to “test the market and see what the interest is” for the property. Delivery Limited furnishings consignment sale Saturday

delivun1.jpg

Remember Delivery Limited? FD Luxe previously named the “white-glove” relocation and storage company to our annual Hot List. (“When you see a navy blue moving van rolling down the street, you can bet your new neighbors have some good stuff. Delivery Limited is the Mercedes of movers, and will offer as much assistance as you require – packing, moving, unpacking and organizing, or just hauling boxes. All for per hour for two guys and a pretty truck.”)

Well, it looks like a lot of their customers are cleaning house because the company is hosting a massive consignment sale this Saturday, Sept. 18, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at their headquarters near Mockingbird Lane and Hwy 183.

I’ve seen the online preview and there are some great finds at surprisingly low prices. Seriously. (A hand-painted chest for 5, chunky framed mirror for , a pair of antique wrought-iron garden chairs for 5.) The pieces come from some of Dallas’ most upscale homes, as well as from furniture showrooms and interior designers. You’ll find dining sets, lighting, tableware, art and even a couple of gorgeous pianos.

The sale is open to the public, but the best part? A portion of proceeds will be donated to the Dallas Chapter of the American Heart Association.
